Beyoncé Knowles is a multi-platinum recording artist, actress, fashion icon, and philanthropist. Born in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter gained international notoriety as being one third of the R&B legend group Destiny’s Child.

Beyoncé made her solo debut with Dangerously in Love in 2003, after multiple hit albums from Destiny’s Child. After breaking her solo career, she coined two of the 2000’s greatest hits: ‘Crazy in Love’ and ‘Single Ladies’. Debuting her alter ego Sasha Fierce on her third solo album, she gained inspiration from her husband Jay-Z (of which she shares twins) and Black Moment’s icon Etta James. Awardee of numerous awards, she is one of the best-selling artists of all time.

In several interviews, including one with Oprah, Beyoncé has attributed her inspiration to other black powerhouses in the community.

Outside of her heroinic music career, she has found her wings as an actress, runway model, and philanthropist. Making appearances in hit films such as Goldfinger and the Pink Panther, she expanded to runway, her very first show being with Tom Ford. Besides her foirees in the entertainment industry, she continues to support political and activist campaigns, including public support for Obama, feminism, and sam-sex marriage.

Beyoncé continues to be a role model for women to love their bodies. In 2006, the Oxford English Dictionary adopted the word “Bootylicious” which was used by the media to describe her curvaceous body. Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child embraced the term and popularized the new phrase by making a hit song, and empowering women all over the world to love their bodies.

Get it Bey, we see you!
